Thank you so much for writing me a story! I promise that I'm easy to please. These are fandoms that I adore, and I'll be delighted to receive a story in any of them. I do have a few things that bother me in fic: I don't enjoy non-con, incest, or character bashing, and I have an embarrassment squick. I absolutely love found/made families, and I'm good with gen or smutty, shippy fic. Like I said, I will be delighted with what you write me, but in case you would like some ideas, here are my thoughts and suggestions for fic:

Ivory Series - Doris Egan

These are comfort books for me. I've been reading them since I was a kid, and I don't think I'll ever outgrow them. I love Theodora; she feels like us in fandom, nerdy and funny and flawed and fascinated. My journal title is often "Barbarian Outlander with No Manners" for a reason. Fic-wise, I would love to see Theodora and Ran on a job, tackling a sorcery problem or a mystery. I would love to see them adopting a child and how they deal with that - especially since they come from such different cultural backgrounds. I would love to see them adjusting to being honest (for certain definitions of honest) citizens again, after being Sector outlaws. I would love to see Theodora interacting with the legendary Cormallon aunts. And rounding out the love, I would love to see Kylla, because she is made entirely out of awesomeness, stubbornness, and gold swirl.

The Sarah Jane Adventures

Oh, Sarah Jane! I love the entire Who-niverse, but SJA has a special place in my heart. While I love everyone in the show, Luke is my favorite. I would love to read university!fic about Luke settling in. Does he manage to blend or has he found a place where his oddness is accepted? I admit to shipping Luke/Clyde, but I don't insist upon it in fic. Future!fic is great, as are stories where Sarah Jane and crew have to outsmart aliens (or UNIT). If none of these ideas appeal, I'd also kind of love Rani/Lady Jane Grey.

Pegasus - Robin McKinley

First, let me make it clear that I was not expecting that ending. I had no idea there would be a sequel, so when the rug was pulled out from under me at the end of Pegasus, it hit me hard. To recover from that, I would love to see either fic about Sylvi and Ebon growing up together, or speculative fic about what happens next. I love Sylvi, I love Ebon, and I love both of their families. It would be great to see more of them, however you choose to do so. I'm less interested in the political maneuvering of the court and magicians, but I have no problem with them being plot points as long as they aren't the main focus of the story.

One of the things I love most about fandom is the way we take our favorite books, movies, shows, bands, fandom crushes, and silly obsessions, and turn them into true communities of people who actually care about each other. Right now, shoshannagold could use some caring. This post explains the situation.

You can contribute fic or art, you can can bid to receive those things from some very talented people, or you can just make a donation of any size. <3

Hollyoaks

I know the ship wars are strong in this fandom, but I ship John Paul with Craig and Kieron pretty equally. If you want to write something shippy, I would be happy with either one. John Paul/Craig-wise, I would especially love to see John Paul and Craig navigating their relationship in Dublin (his friends reactions, domestic slice of life, whatever), or maybe the two of them taking that trip to America they once talked about. John Paul/Kieron-wise, I would love to read about them having people over to the flat or out with Kris, working through mad McQueen drama, planning the wedding. If you'd rather not go shippy, I adore when the McQueens take care of one another, and I'd love John Paul friendship fic with Elliot, Kris, Hannah, or even Spike.

So, hey, I got to see Patrick Stump last night at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale. Can we say "yay?" Yay! I headed over to the venue pretty much right after work, but the crowd was varied enough that I didn't feel excessively out of place in my work clothes. There was a good line when I got there, especially considering that it was a Tuesday night and we were all waiting in the heat (easily 100 degrees at that time of early evening).

cut for rambling and PICTURES!Collapse )

So remember last week when I was sadfacing all over this journal about how I wasn't going to get to see Panic! at the Disco when they had their little live show? Well, I got to go after all, on account of Northern Downpour being awesome! My joy was epic. We didn't get definite info about the show until the night before, so I showed up to work on Wednesday practically bouncing and said I was taking off early. The Customer Service manager was like *serious face* "But I'm leaving early for my kids' parent-teacher conferences. I don't know if [Boss] will let you." Since I knew I wasn't actually leaving them in the lurch, though, I decided to not even ask if I could leave early; I just did it. Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission and all that.

And then I went to see Panic!Collapse )

Last night on Jimmy Fallon, there was a contest announced to promote unsigned bands. The winner gets a cover of Rolling Stone and will play on the show. Among the competing bands is Empires, who are awesome. I was lucky enough to see them with maple_mahogany and sneaky_sena when they came to Scottsdale, and really, they're so good. And nice to their fans. GO HERE and give them five stars to help them along the way. :D (You can also listen to a couple songs, see pics, and read about them at that link.)

I'm feeling distinctly grumpy, but I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. So, let's have a completely different parade! I read several awesome stories in the werewolfbigbang, and they got me thinking about werewolves. And about my favorite werewolf ever. Sorry, George and Remus, I'm talking about Oz.

Daniel Osbourne. *sighs wistfully* Buffy the Vampire Slayer's very own teen wolf, Oz was amazing. Here's a few reasons why I love him:
Th a remarkable lack of werewolf-ness, for a post all about a werewolfCollapse )

So, I went to see The Like last night, and it was awesome.

Well, it didn't start out great. It started out with me waiting for ages for things to get started, because the flyers and website said 7:30 and my ticket said 8:00. Opening band wound up going on at 8:30, and The Like at 9:30.

In which I blather about the showCollapse )

Tomorrow night: Empires!
